Final piece

Filming

In my shoot I learnt how to efficiently run a multi camera shoot because in my opinion I ran my shoot efficiently and quickly some of that was due to the equipment being pre set due to me following someone in the studio and having someone follow me in so no need to pack down equipment. Neither the less me being apart of the crew of the student before me I was very happy with how quickly and easy we managed to construct and position the equipment. Regardless I was very happy with how efficiently I repositioned readjusted and reset the time coding on each camera and the lighting. So when hit came to the shoot there were no hiccups and I had an excellent crew who were on hand if something went wrong or needed adjustment. I was happy with this because i was set up re-positioned and started filming within 10 minuets and if I needed to pack down the equipment I am confident that I could have done that just as quickly.

The theory that I have learnt I have applied to my shoot and it helped tremendously because when I was researching my idea and how to film a multi camera shoot I looked through me reference pictures and the video which inspired my project I looked at where the cameras where positioned and how whether they moved and well as the lighting and backdrops. Seeing this was very helpful because it helped me know where everything was going to go and how I wanted my final product to look . I saw the camera positions in my research video then I used what I had learnt form that and I mimicked that in my shoot and by learning that theory I have improved my final product. As well as the camera knowledge I also applied the theory that I have seen on background and lighting such as I mimicked the lighting positions which helped me massively.

For any technical development I used new technical elements which helped me in my shoot such as time coding which is something that I am new too but after using it I realised how helpful that actually is and if I ever do a multi camera shoot again I will make sure that I use it at again. I say this because I saw when it came to the edit everything as simple and easier to do the edit with because all I had to do was rewatch the footage from each camera and select the parts that I liked and didn't like and put each of these in the positions that I wanted. Using time code helped me massively when it came to editing because it made everything in that final piece easier to find and cut down and use. As well as I tried using the colour adjustments on the camera but I was not confident on using this which was clear on one camera which I noticed when it came to editing which Is good because it helps me learn and expand my knowledge. When I was editing I saw that a close up on my second presenter was a lot greener that the other cameras. so I added an adjustment layer in post and that seamed to work but having that like that means that I can learn form it and expand.

In my shooting I had three cameras. One was a mid shot pointing strait on looking at both me and my fellow presenter as well as I had another two cameras one was pointed on me from the the left hand side using a close up on my face for when I am talking about a subject or say something interesting as well as there was a camera on the right pointing at Alex who was on the left doing the same thing as mine by using a close up to gather his emotions and interesting content that he demonstrates when talking. In my opinion the shoot was successful because i had no problems with the camera before whilst or after shooting .As well as I had zero problems with the set up of the equipment due to the fact that I had followed a friend in after the studio and we had planned to use the same equipment at the same time so there was no need for a setup or pack down due to another student using the set up after me.Although I have had several issues and last minuet changes when it came to post producing and pre production because I realised that I wanted certain things in a different way than I had planned. such as I planned on using green screen for my production and shoot but in the end I decided to make the graphic that I wanted and slot them in being the talkers using masks and key framing to with a black sheet background to get the desired effect. I also did this because I planned to shoot on days that I was scheduled to be on  a day that I am not in college so I had to be careful of my timing to make sure that I was able to get home on time. So due to the fuming time pressure I decided the day before to not use a green screen and go with my back up of slowing the graphics in in post with out the green screen. Also in post when going through I just decided to use cut aways and clips instead of using the graphic that I had pre made and I would use these graphic for my intro or finale .

The only other change was the fact that I had to spit ball and roll out topics that I had not planned out or had informed Alex about so the conversation was a bit risky and questionable rather this would work but luckily it did work after a bit of improvisation. The reason I did this was because I had planned out my topics before but when it came down to recording and when I was on set and the camera were rolling I felt like the video would be to short so I made up some relevant topics in my head so that when I ran out of scheduled topics I could have some extra topic to increase the run time.

Apart from those small issues I believe the shoot went well and if I was to do it again I would plan to film on a day that I would be in college so I did not have to rush as well as I would have used the green screen and I would not have to worry about my crew or cast turning up because they would have to be in any way.

Sound

For the use of sound in my piece I would use tie microphones to record my audio when on shoot as well as a built in camera microphone was recording on the establishing show camera to get a full spectrum of audio so I get both talkers voices and the ambience of the studio if I needed it or a good point was made by my live audience.  There will be no voice over special effects noises or Foley in my piece because it is a simple talk show about a film series. But if I was to use voice over or special effects I would use the voice overs for when I am talking about a character I would use iconic or inspiration quote from that charter or if I would use special effects noses they would be used during the opening titles.

For what I have learnt is quite simple because the main thing that I learn was how to use tie microphones because I have never used them before and for this project it was very helpful and made my audio simple and easy to find and edit because it made all of my audio simple to fix if needed.Tie microphone are something very new compared to what I am use to using but they were very helpful to me. They were very effective because I had one attached to each talker so it gave me a clear piece of audio so when they are talking I would have clear implication of who is talking as well as it makes it nicer for my target audience to recognise who is who if they are just listening rather than watching it lets the audience know who is who and what is happening. In my piece I am having no special sound effects or foley but I am having imported music from youtube which is simply some introduction talk show music to help give my piece some recognisable features to help my none Marvel viewing audience.

For technical elements and development there really is not much due to how much audio that I used such as I have only one set of audio which is my talkers and some simple copyright free talk show music which Is simple an dis nothing new for me I think the best think that I could do is explain what else I could have used and why I would have used it or not have used them.Such as I could have used the on board microphones but they are not very good quality and they could have not capture the feeling like I would have wanted it to as well as I would not be using a boom microphone personally I would have not used them for two reasons one I did not the correct amount of crew if I planned on using these as well as I do not like the sound causality as well as where I had the camera it would have of to be in shot for it to be able to get good enough quality for what I wanted and it would give me the desired feeling.

For the theory I looked at my research and I looked at the video and I looked at how they record there audio and I believe that they use law microphones or tie microphones which Is what I decide to use which I believed to be the best thing to get my audio the way the I wanted . The way I decide to record my audio is the best way is because my video inspiration uses these microphones so I decided to use these because I believe that they gave there show good audio quality and it gave it a nice atmosphere.

As well as for the use of music I have used music in my piece for the opening title sequence and only in that part of my piece because I did not want my talker to be drowned out by the music but I have ended up using music in my  opening but it Is simply just some classic traditional game show opening music which I choose because I wanted something simple and recognisable so instantly you know what you are watching.

The song that i have decided on is --------- because I wanted a song from the decade the the film starts out in and and in the year that he was abducted in a perfect world I would choose a song from the same year but I have not found a good one that I like yet. Even though I decided to use the song above (late night show intro music) I still believe that this Idea to use a song form the same decade as

The options are

First is a song form 1988 which I believe could be good for a transitional song into a talk show due to is low base and relaxing tone.

Secondly I believe that this song could be good due to its simple relaxing tone and style and the fact it is more modern may help but I would like a song from the era that these films are technically base in.

other assets

graphics

I learnt a few new things when creating my graphics because I made some other graphics which never got used I was planning on using them as backing images so that my shots have a feeling and sense of a talk show mixed with an IGN review. I also used these to help me and the audience make these images related to the topic that I am talking about. These images are fully edited and give a unique feeling about them they also relate to some of the topics that I talk about e.g marvel. In these picture I learnt how to use the filter gallery in an effective way such as I learnt how to use a retro sci fi filter which gives it a nice glitch / neon retro outline effect which is effective simple and it helps enhance the picture and makes to look nicer and weirder whilst relating to the topic at hand.

The new technical elements that I have learn about are the new filter and how to use the filter gallery even though i have used it in the past for other projects i have never learnt to use it properly or to an effective standard. So when i decided to use filters i wanted to use one that made sense and it  looked appropriate as well as complimented the image and the topic that the image is based off so i decided to use the Glowing edges effect. This effect gives my piece a retro neon effect as well as making the image darker and more real. This worked so well because my base picture was on Tom Hollands iteration of spider man and in the films he features he is constant making references to classic and timeless films such as Aliens , Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back and Foot Loose. After now using the filter gallery to make an images something new and interesting as well as getting some good feedback from some of my peers which is always good and knowing that it has worked well and received good feedback i feel more confident using this tool again and to a good standard. And I also learnt whilst using this tool it is important to use the optional bars section on the left to adjust the brightness and thickness of the bars over the image.

The theory of this is because I used is I looked at my reference video and I saw in the back ground that they used banners in the back which rotate images that show what they are talking about or just images that are appealing to do with the subject. So I decide to imitate this by creating some of my own images and using that to recreate the banners and posters I was going to do this because in the background of the video to represent and homage that and reuse the idea of my inspiration of that for my self but deicide other wise because I wanted to have some cut aways and other graphics scattereed  around my piece to show what I am talking about but I would not be able to do both which was not ideal as well as I could not do this In my head because with the constant camera angle change it would be impossible to have them int he same position in frame and it would not look nice or accurate and it would annoy me and other who watched it which I am sure of.So I decided to not use these graphics and stick with other forms of  showing my audience authentication in many other ways such as cut aways or pop up graphics.

reached target audience

I believe after having my work viewed whilst editing my peers and demographic that it is aimed at approved and seemed to enjoy my work and it seems that I appealed to the right audience as well as there is something that I learnt which is topics that have this type of content will always attract a certain type of audience which is good to know and maybe something that I could relate towards the future in other projects maybe. As well as having something like this work as well as it did with my audience it proves the research that I did is worth it and was all valid and correct to what audience I need to direct my work towards.

I have learnt that i have found the correct target audience for my piece which is hared to do then you may think because the films made by marvel are intended to be made from a large amount of people are intended for the general movie going audience which is a large amount  of people and me being able to have a correct target audience.

Logo

For my logo i wanted to make it look like or at least resemble a scene from guardians of the galaxy due to the name and i want this as a theme going through the show to have some consistency and to pay homage to one of the best marvel films in the franchise Guardians of the galaxy. My first idea is to have a piece of text  with a scene from the film in the middle of the text when they first arrive at nowhere showing where i got my inspiration and the ideas behind the show.  As well as my other idea is to have another reference from Guardians of the galaxy where the main character Star lord / Peter quill ( Chris Pratt ) owns a tape deck due to the character being abducted when he was younger from the 80s and having a tape deck to resemble that. My idea that fits in with this is to have a tape with my show name as the name of the tape with the same text style and then as a transition into the show i would have a song from the year that he was abducted in as a transition it to the show with a start up sound

Image result for guardians of the galaxy tape deck This is the tape deck and i would have this as my frame and i would have the name changed and i will remake this my self and try t recreate this frame in premier pro.

Image result for guardians of the galaxy knowhere This is the frame that i wanted to put in the text to show when they first enter nowhere.

This is a video of me editing my video and making changes to my edit (this was my first draft of the edit before I made my changes and added in my graphics)

shoot sound other assets - things to talk about

There was a video of me editing my video but the export time was too Long compared to how much time I had left over but it was a very simple video of me just simply cutting up clips which was not necessary but I ran out of time before deadline and the reason I did not do it before was I did not think that I would be important due to the fact that I had a video of me making my graphics which does the same job.
