Image result for marvel phase 4For my idea i decided to do a IGN style of talk show which would cover the topic of  the new Marvel phase (phase 4). My should would last around three to five minuets and would lay host to a variety and of marvel fans and level of fan such as a i will have a big marvel fan which will have a greater idea and knowledge of the topics that i am going to cover due to his knowledge of the source material which are the comics. And on the other end of the spectrum there will be a fan  who mainly focuses on the cinematic universe rather than the origins. This show will cover theory's from fans and our own as well as leaks teasers and what information i could gather from the names of the upcoming titles and from the d23 panels and other conventions .

Characteristics and context

The characteristics of a chat show are (characteristics are what makes something up) so for a chat show it is made up out of many things such as lighting camera set props the content and much more.Such as the lighting to direct the audience where to look and what to pay attention to such as colour as well which the show uses to direct you because the human eye is more down to red and yellow compared to blues and green which are less appealing. Such as in this picture of Jeremy Kyle the main studio is pointed directly over the host showing the audience and the viewer where to direct there attention to rather than focusing on the back ground / set or the audience.

In a multi camera shoot such as dr. Phil there are 5 to 7 cameras one for each person on stage and the audience the sets and any other unique assets that might be on stage at any certain time. such as there will be cameras on the audience gathering there reactions and emotions to a topic or it will put the camera in the audience to give there pov . For example, in the clip below you can see that camera 2 is in the audience showing there pov.

Also there will be cameras for each person in centre stage so one camera for each person showing there reaction or to cut to to show them talking about a topic. such as there are 5 cameras in this section that cover each person in centre stage

As well as there is one camera to give a full over view of the audio showing the audiences position compared to the main attraction and the people in the that area this also shows the scale of the show and gives you a good idea of what the show is made up of because In some shots you can see where the camera crews are and what they are covering. As well as in this shot it also shows evidence to what people are talking about by showing screens in the back.

Sets and props are a common occurrence in these shows because every show every made has its own set which is made up and the entire show is shot in props are also used to give relevance to the topic at hand such as in graham Norton when interviewing tom hanks on his role as woody on toy story 4 he brings out a toy of woody and then he questions his about it furthering the conversation and creating  a new avenue of conversation to go down.
Each show has its own set that is unique to
that show and has themes that are unique to that show and they will have have there own unique colour scheme costume style and theme that relates to that show and that show alone such as in golden balls the set is in the colour of the show which is black and gold which even links in to the presenters salt and costume meaning that he has a black suit and Is surrounded by golden things such as the stand he is behind the cards he holds leaning in to the idea that this set is unique. because this set is the only one that would logically have a black and gold studio covered in a golden balls and the only reason that this is like that is to complement the show and to make it look unique from every other show on tv.As well as if you have a creative set or unique pro out it could help you a lot because if a viewer is scrolling through channels then you could attract an audience.

What I have learnt.

Whilst I have been doing this I have learnt that it is important to use lighting more efficiently than I have in the past such as I have now learnt that you want to direct your light to guide the audience where to look and why you want to look there .You can also use this in colour so in my piece I want to use a red or yellow to keep the audience engaged rather than an blue / green .

I also have learnt that I want to use at least 4 cameras for my piece because. I want a piece that covers all angels so I think that 4 cameras is good to have an audience reaction and to have one camera on each presenter and one camera on the set covering the studio and any other back ground information.I have learnt that having props could be a useful asset to help drive a convocation and it helps to have another path that you could go down to get more content if the content you are talking about could become stale or you run out of a topics to discuss.

Sets are very important to have on a chat / game show because it is one of the ways that you show could feel unique and different so that people would keep returning for a certain feel or because it is unique to what else Is out there which having a good set could help guide your audience to a conclusion. Also a memorable and unusual set could help you if someone is scrolling through channels and they see an unusual object they could stop and be engaged because yours is unusual or different to others also helping you grow and earning you more.

This has helped me because I looked at these shots and they told me how my frame should be presented and how they look which has helped me a lot because it now shows me how my frame should look if I require this shot as well as this has helped me identify how many cameras that I would need as well as this has helped me learn that I should use certain colours so that I could gain more interest from the audience and this has helped me identify those colour helping me learn how to identify with the audience.

Mood board

Fro my mood board i wanted to create a mood board that resemble relaxation but interest because in my opinion i when i am watching a chat show or listening to a podcast i want to be relaxed and to make in not feel like a commitment. But i still want to be engaged and interested in what they are saying. So i have filled my mood board with images that would make you relaxed such as nature beaches holidays and comfort . Because that is what i want my audience to feel so that they can just sit down and watch something on a subject that interests them with out it being a burden for my audience. So in my mood board i dedicated the left hand side to be scenes of beautiful nature and people relaxing on holiday in beaches and lakes. This is how i want my audience to feel when watching an listening to my chat show as well as i would like my audience to feel engaged and interested to watch and listen like in the picture to the right who are all people who are engaged and interested in what ever they are watching which is the other thing that i want my audience to be like and feel.

I will have a 3 camera set up first camera will be a medium long shot showing both of the talkers in centre frame second camera would be a close up on the left hand side of set covering the talker on the right and the third camera would be on the right hand side covering the talker on the left hand side. The shots for the left and right would be close ups covering the talkers face and shoulders and the first camera would be the main camera of a mid long shot covering the set and both talkers

Camera 1

Camera 2

Camera  3

In my background i would have a green screened studio in the back ground which would look like a simple talk show studio. I  would also add a TV in the middle of the studio in between both talkers which i would put scenes from the films fro references or i would put pictures in the TV to show to show what we are talking about to help the audience understands. Eg if we are discussing the Captain Marvel sequel ( Captain Marvel and the Valkyries ) i would put a picture of the title and any other reference pictures that may appear over time and we would discus the meaning of this and what this could imply for the next instalment in the franchise . Another example would be about the new Thor film ( Thor Lover and thunder ) we would discuss the information we have on it and put those picture about it on the TV such as the Natalie portman picture holding Thor's hammer and we would discuss the relevance of this and the likenesses of Thor Jane foster and many other examples.

Image result for marvel nowhereImage result for marvel the collectorThe name of my show i have decided to name after one of my favourite MCU films 2014's Guardians of the galaxy. In Guardians they visit the planet nowhere which is home to the collector who is a man who collects artefacts and knowledge and shows his knowledge to other fro a price which in a way is what i mam doing so i have decided to name my show nowhere due to the fact that the collector who live there relays information about the universe to other which i plan on doing so in a way we are both doing the same thing also the planet and the character are important to the plot and the overall out come.

Examples of what i will talk about.

The main topic is the new Marvel phase and all of the content that comes with it including the new what if animated series and live action spin off series's. The main topics how every will be the next line of mainstream films. The things that i will talk about are the titles oft he films what they mean and what they could represent as well as the main films i will cover will be Guardians of the galaxy volume 3 , Thor love and thunder , Doctor strange and the multiverse of madness and Captain Marvel and the Valkyries. As well as i will cover the live action TV shows if needed fro time but they could be interesting to discuss how they fit in the time line / series and what content they are bringing to the table.

Logo

For my logo i wanted to make it look like or at least resemble a scene from guardians of the galaxy due to the name and i want this as a theme going through the show to have some consistency and to pay homage to one of the best marvel films in the franchise Guardians of the galaxy. My first idea is to have a piece of text  with a scene from the film in the middle of the text when they first arrive at nowhere showing where i got my inspiration and the ideas behind the show.  As well as my other idea is to have another reference from Guardians of the galaxy where the main character Star lord / Peter quill ( Chris Pratt ) owns a tape deck due to the character being abducted when he was younger from the 80s and having a tape deck to resemble that. My idea that fits in with this is to have a tape with my show name as the name of the tape with the same text style and then as a transition into the show i would have a song from the year that he was abducted in as a transition it to the show with a start up sound

Image result for guardians of the galaxy tape deck This is the tape deck and i would have this as my frame and i would have the name changed and i will remake this my self and try t recreate this frame in premier pro.

Image result for guardians of the galaxy knowhere This is the frame that i wanted to put in the text to show when they first enter nowhere.

The song that i have decided on is -------------- because I wanted a song from the decade the the film starts out in and and in the year that he was abducted in a perfect world I would choose a song from the same year but I have not found a good one that I like yet.

The options are

First is a song form 1988 which I believe could be good for a transitional song into a talk show due to is low base and relaxing tone.

Secondly I believe that this song could be good due to its simple relaxing tone and style and the fact it is more modern may help but I would like a song from the era that these films are technically base in.

the piece of music that i ended up using was

The opening sequence or title sequence I would like to do come form Independence Day resurgence

I want my scene to do what this scene does where the camera is zooming through space whilst showing titles of production company's and eventually the name of the film. This intro to the scene does a very good job of setting the scene and building the universe whilst giving the audience some creepy sense of not knowing where this is going and what is coming by through out using a signal bleep and the audience dose not know what that is until the end of the scene where you discover that it is a distress signal. When a creepy alien finger presses the button activating the entire space ship. Immediately this helps to tell the story and the setting as well as the genre of what we are about to watch.Such as the space and the font type lets us know where we are and that we are in a sci fi alien style film. This then tells us that we are on earth from a shot with the planet blacked out to start with hen coming in focus and showing us that it is earth and the showing the audience the plot of the film with a giant alien ship attacking earth.

This is the sort of thing that i want to do with my scene just dimmed down to not such a series tone where but i still want the idea where from what we are shown we are given indications of what we are about to see such as the genre and a basic idea of what you are bout to watch. Such as if i was going to watch this i would want it to tell me the genre which is sci fi / fantasy. and from that you have a ruff idea of what you are going to watch.

I will follow these guides to have a scene that does resemble independence day resurgence

My progress will be successful because i have already started and it is turning out how i would like it to.This is a s far as i got so far due to the fact that i do not have certain plugins so that i could not finish with the whole project. but i have made a foggy sky with animated starts. The second screen shot is of a later part of the scene and it is a small recreation of the scene that this is based of.

My opening will be created using clips from the final scenes of guardians of the galaxy to give it some relevancy and I  saw it here being done with some other clips and i realised that I could do this so I decided to an I feel good about how this is going to turn out. As well as I will be able to find a youtube tutorial about weather how to create a cinematic into to a piece but instead of following it exactly and using the clips that they suggest to use but I am adapting mine to make it a marvel related topic and to keep in with the theme and topic of guardians of the galaxy so I am going to use a scene from the film which is a space battle of the heroes defending the city from the villains. I think that personally it might be one of the best scenes to do this with because it was creative cinematic colourful and interesting enough for it to be in an intro scene.

For my opening sequence that I have no finished I can comment on the fact that I needed up using these clips and despite the lower quality I am trying to fix or at least improve the quality but as an opening it is simple and effective opening it sets the tone and pace of the piece as well as it helps drastically for world building and ti automatically tells you where you are and what the theme and style of the piece is going to look like and it helps the audience realise what the programs is targeted at.

Marvel back story and origins

Where I get my information from / Source https://www.britannica.com/topic/Marvel-Comics

The history of marvel " Marvel Comics, American media and entertainment company that was widely regarded as one of the “big two” publishers in the comic industry. Its parent company, Marvel Entertainment, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Disney Company. Its headquarters are in New York City."

Says my source this covers where they are based and both parts of the company and. who owns what such as the cinematic or live action / animated content comes from marvel entertainment owned by Disney.

"The precursor to Marvel Comics was founded in 1939 by pulp magazine publisher Martin Goodman. In order to capitalize on the growing popularity of comic books—especially those starring superheroes—Goodman created Timely Comics. Timely’s first comic book was Marvel Comics no. 1 (cover dated October 1939), which featured several superhero characters, most notably the Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner. Timely Comics introduced many superhero characters during comics’ “Golden Age” in the 1940s, most importantly Captain America, who first appeared in Captain America Comics no. 1 (March 1941). Timely characters were often portrayed as fighting against the Nazis and the Japanese even before the United States entered World War II. As the 1940s came to a close, superheroes fell out of vogue with comic book readers, and Timely canceled the last of its books in this genre in 1950. In 1951 Goodman formed his own distribution company, and Timely Comics became Atlas Magazines. Though there was a brief experiment in bringing back superheroes such as Captain America in 1953, Atlas’s output was mostly in other genres such as humour, westerns, horror, war, and science fiction.

In 1956 rival company DC Comics ushered in the so-called Silver Age of comics by reintroducing superhero titles with significant commercial success. In the early 1960s Atlas changed its name to Marvel Comics. For several decades Marvel and DC were the top companies in the industry. Throughout the 1980s and ’90s Marvel changed hands numerous times, becoming a publicly held company in 1991. Questionable management decisions and a general slump in sales in the comic book industry drove Marvel Comics into bankruptcy in 1996. The company emerged from bankruptcy in 1998 and began to diversify its output, launching imprints aimed at a variety of demographics and expanding its cinematic offerings under the Marvel Studios banner. In 2007 Marvel began publishing digital comics. In 2009 the Walt Disney Company purchased the parent company of Marvel Comics"
This is a large amount of information about the corporate history of marvel as a company and what they did how comics evolved and there history with characters such as captain America and lesser known characters such as the human torch. As well as giving a good idea of there history and on going rivalry with DC comics.
This next section is the history of some more of there characters which I will feature as well as there leading face and one of the best known people in the world for this company which is Stan Lee
"The shared storytelling palette known as the Marvel universe was unveiled in 1961, when Goodman responded to the growing interest in superhero books by commissioning writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby to create the Fantastic Four. With the release of Fantastic Four no. 1 (November 1961), readers were introduced to a superheroic setting that was, nevertheless, rooted in the real world. Lee and Kirby attempted to make their comic book characters more original by allowing them to interact with each other in a realistic fashion, including heroes often fighting or arguing with each other. This trend continued with a flood of other superhero characters introduced by Marvel Comics during the early 1960s, including Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, and the X-Men. Lee wrote the majority of Marvel’s books during that time, and Jack Kirby and Steve Ditco were the most important and influential artists."
This section is the Marvel Audience demographic that I can find I will try and find the demographic for the MCU (marvel cinematic universe) and the comics that the MCU is based of

I found the perfect website where it breaks everything down such as age gender ethnicity and even things such as what was the first mcc film you watched how many comics you read and how many you have read. And it takes the voters of how many people have answered the questions or voted.

These are very good because in the first screen shot shows the age gender sexual orientation and the marital status. In the second is there country and ethnicity.Third employment status. Then it moves on to comics e.g. do you read comics and which have you read then displays company an amounts. Fourth shows the MCU and how the public rank the films as well as asking what film was people first they saw. which helps me bulk out my target audience and narrow it down to a more specific target audience. So I can appeal it to a more specify tags audience not help get a larger viewing party and target it to those amount of people.

This image shows the creators intentions and shows when this was made and how uptown date this is and it being only a few months old meaning the this is recant and reliable information.

Have you ever watched an IGN review. yes

If so what would you rate the way that they are presented out of 10. 8

How long do you recon a chat show last for if it Is only about one topic. 10 mins

How many talkers / presenters that there should be. 1 presenter. 4 guests

What amount of interest do you have in the MCU. 10/10

When this survey is completed then it would be very useful for when it comes to planning and production because when this is finished this tells me how much people are keen on IGN style reviews as well as it show me the age and gender of the audience as well as there fondness of the MCU helping to build my demographic. As well as by doing this survey it helps me learn weather I should have a certain amount of talkers or presenters as well as this should tell me how long I should have my show got for with the amount of content that I plan on talking about.

Based of my survey

I have sent my survey that would narrow down my target audience and allow me to make my piece more directed to the ideal target audience.I sent my piece to a bunch of people that are my age that I know can be fans of these shows but they are not my ideal audience more than likely they are a an older generation. Due to my research I have found that they are an older audience but due to the topic that I am talking about being advertised for a younger audience I believe that the audience that I am appealing to will have an interest.so the qualitative aspects of my results will be useful because they are of the right target audience despite what my research is saying because by learning I have decided to use a younger audience because the content is more appealing rather the audience that these shows would be aimed at.
I also believe that my audience I a mix of hostile because by doing this show I am respecting them and the decision and view point as well as I believe that fro the younger and older audience they are an uninformed audience because I am teaching them something new and using own theory and evidence to reinforce this .
